Originally from Western Europe and North Africa, Roman chamomile has many benefits for all skin types, even the most sensitive and irritated. Its essential oil has no equal in overcoming skin problems such as hives, eczema, dermatitis and even rosacea.

Anti-inflammatory and anti-pain, Roman chamomile essential oil is ideal for cutaneous use to soothe itching, repair damaged tissues and soften irritated skin. In addition, relaxing and soothing the nerves, it calms stress and anxiety, factors that can promote the development of skin diseases such as eczema or hives.2 - How does chamomile essential oil work against itching and irritation?
Roman chamomile is one of the oils richest in monoterpene esters, which gives it powerful anti-inflammatory activity through hyperemia, namely by local strengthening of blood flow. Also analgesic, it reduces pain and reduces inflammation of irritated, sensitive or reactive skin and mucous membranes.How to use chamomile essential oil for itchy or irritated skin?
Perfect for the skin, to calm redness, irritation and itching, Roman chamomile essential oil can be used alone or in combination with other essential or vegetable oils.
Itching - Cutaneous use
Massage oil to immediately relieve itching
Mix :
- 5 drops of Roman chamomile essential oil
- 5 drops of fine lavender essential oil
- 3 drops of peppermint essential oil
- ½ teaspoon sweet almond vegetable oil
Apply locally, wherever it itches, and as many times as necessary. Massage gently so as not to keep the urge to scratch.

In synergy to calm the urge to scratch
In a 10 ml bottle fitted with a dropper, mix:
- 0.5 ml of Roman chamomile essential oil
- 0.5 ml of fine lavender essential oil
- 0.5 ml of rose geranium essential oil
- 0.5 ml of peppermint essential oil
- 0.5 ml of juniper essential oil
- 5 ml of borage vegetable oil
- 2.5 ml of rosehip vegetable oil
Apply a few drops to the surface to be treated then massage gently, 3 to 4 times a day depending on needs.

In powder
Ask the pharmacist to prepare the following powder, to apply all over the body if necessary.
- 1 g of Roman chamomile essential oil
- 1 g of lavender essential oil
- 1 g of annual tansy essential oil
- Talc de Venise: qsp 100 g
Sprinkle 3 or 4 times per day for a few days.

In case of vaginal itching
In a 10 ml bottle, mix:
- 2 ml of Roman chamomile essential oil
- 1 ml of super lavandin essential oil
- 1 ml of lavender essential oil
- 6 ml of calendula lipid extract
Apply 2 to 3 drops locally. Repeat as many times as necessary.

Itching - Oral use
Roman chamomile essential oil has no use orally for treating redness and itching.
Itching - Diffusion use
Roman chamomile essential oil is not useful when diffused or inhaled to combat redness and itching.
Other essential oils useful for redness and itching
- True lavender essential oil: with calming, analgesic and skin regenerating properties, it helps relieve itching and repair the skin.
- Peppermint essential oil: thanks to its main component, menthol, it triggers a sensation of cold which will quickly soothe itching and eliminate pain.
